Jones Brothers Racing is an Adelaide based rally team competing in a variety of event styles on both tarmac and off-road. Starting at 24 years of age JBR is possibly the youngest driver/navigator combination in fully self-prepared cars running both an LX Torana Hatch for tarmac and a Datsun 180B SSS for dirt. Both cars sport the eye-catching bright orange JBR signature paint scheme.

Established in 2010 JBR has competed in both local and national motorsport events including the Australian Tarmac Challenge, Scouts Rally SA and the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally.

Peter Jones, the driver, graduated through the ranks first in Motocross before moving his focus to 4 wheels and stepping up to Dirt Circuit and then bitumen go-karts. He then began building his LX Torana Hatch; the first of several rally cars for the team. As a qualified, full time mechanic for THR Motorsport Developments, Peter’s knowledge and experience give him the ability to fine tune his race machines before taking them to the track and pushing them to  their limits.

The navigator and Peter’s twin brother, Bryan, has worked his way up from Service Crew to owner and operator of his own business, Jones Brothers Racing. While mostly focusing on the operational management of JBR, Bryan is also heavily involved with preparing the car for race day  and puts in many hours in the garage on maintenance and repairs.

Classic Targa Adelaide is over for 2011 and JBR have enjoyed the success of a top 10 finish. Finishing 7th in Classic and 8th Outright is a huge achievement for us and it wouldn't have been possible without the support of our sponsors, family and friends. Stay tuned for photos and videos from the weekend.

The Jones Brothers Racing website is now live at the new address www.jonesbrosracing.com.

We recently appeared in Scouts Rally SA, 29th to 31st of July, with the Datsun 180B SSS. A reasonably trouble free weekend and only minor damage suffered to the car after an excursion off the track. This was the first dirt rally we have competed in and are overall happy with our performance. Some car upgrades are on the way including some much needed bigger brakes.

The JBR Torana has been a bit quite since its last outing at the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally back in May. With a strong start to Day 1 JBR was sitting 2nd in class and 11th outright. The car suffered some reasonable damage on the 2nd day of the but we were able to get it back up and running for day 3. Further inspection of the car after the event revealed a twisted chassis. This has been fix and the car is back up and going all ready for testing at Mallala next week.

The next major event for us will be the Classic Targa Adelaide, 14th to 17th September 2011. Jones Brothers Racing will be out in full force with the LX Torana Hatchback.
